Caroline Hanes
Caroline Hanes is a comedian, sketch performer, satirical writer, and comedy show producer originally from Richmond, Virginia, now based in New York City, where she’s been performing for the last five years. Her comedy is personal and observational, candidly following her unique (and sometimes strange!) stream of consciousness and above all, she believes the point of comedy is to have fun, aiming to make audiences take a load off and laugh with (and/or at) her.
Her stand-up has been featured on SiriusXM, and she was named a “Comic to Watch” by the New York Comedy Festival. She’s performed at the New York Comedy Club, Comic Strip Live, The Stand, Broadway Comedy Club, and Greenwich Village Comedy Club, and opened for Joe Matarese in Fairfield, CT, and Bridgeport, CT. Caroline recently attended the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, performing in a comedic play and multiple stand-up showcases, and was featured in over 50 Fringe shows throughout the month-long festival.
At the University of Virginia, Caroline spent three years as a writer, actor, vice president, and show director for the sketch comedy group Hot Kids Comedy. After graduating in 2020 and moving to NYC, she’s written and performed in sketch shows at the Peoples Improv Theater, including “Old School Sketch Show” and “Unfinished Business,” alongside digital sketches with fellow NYC comedians. She also co-produces the weekly stand-up showcase Cult Comedy at St. Marks Comedy Club in the East Village, where she books comedians, manages promotion and venue logistics, and hosts shows that consistently draw crowds of 30+.
When she’s not performing, Caroline works as a comedy writer for “Love Island USA,” writing jokes with the show’s comedic narrator Iain Stirling, and has been a contributor for the satirical publication Reductress since January 2022. Her favorite comedians and creative influences include Sarah Silverman, Joe List, and Nikki Glaser and for what it’s worth, she’s also extremely good at limbo.
