J-L Cauvin
J-L Cauvin (born Jean-Louis Cauvin) is an American stand-up comedian and attorney best known for his political satire and widely praised Donald Trump impression. Born in the Bronx to a Haitian father and an Irish-American mother, Cauvin earned his undergraduate degree from Williams College, where he also competed in varsity athletics, before pursuing a law degree at Georgetown University Law Center. He passed the bar in 2005 and served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx before turning to comedy full-time, eventually returning to law as a staff attorney while continuing to perform and create content.
Cauvin developed his Trump impression during the 2016 presidential campaign, bringing it to shows like “The Adam Carolla Show” and “The Dan Le Batard Show,” and later launched the satirical podcast “Make Podcasts Great Again.” His social media videos gained widespread attention during the 2020 election, with several racking up millions of views. He’s also appeared on Howard Stern, Marc Maron’s WTF, “The Late Late Show,” Comics Unleashed, Showtime’s “Billions,” and ESPN Radio, among others.
He’s released three comedy specials including Amazon Prime’s “Half-Blackface” and eight stand-up albums. His background as a practicing attorney informs a distinct, closely argued style of political comedy that sets him apart on the New York circuit. J-L is also 6’7″ (cue 12-year-olds laughing hysterically).
