How long are comedy shows in NYC?

Most comedy shows in NYC last between 60 to 90 minutes. Some weekend or headliner shows can run closer to 2 hours.

How many comedy clubs are in NYC?

There are over 30 notable comedy clubs across NYC, with the highest concentration in Manhattan, especially in Greenwich Village and Times Square.

Comedy Cellar is widely considered the best-known club, but Comedy Village is a rising star in Times Square with top lineups and a vibrant setting.

You can see comedy at clubs like Comedy Village, Comedy Cellar, Gotham, The Stand, and indie spots across Brooklyn and Manhattan.

The original MacDougal Street location is considered the best for its intimate space and surprise celebrity drop-ins.

Most clubs are 21+, but select improv theaters and early shows may allow under-18 guests. Always check show restrictions in advance.

Clean comedy is available at select shows, especially at Gotham Comedy Club and improv theaters. Family-friendly shows are rare but do exist.

NYC features stand-up, improv, open mic, sketch, clean comedy, and storytelling shows every night across the city.

Check out the latest showtimes at Comedy Village or browse listings on Eventbrite and TodayTix for nightly stand-up shows.

Comedy Cellar’s main location is at 117 MacDougal Street in Greenwich Village, Manhattan.
